Before discovering Amador College Connect, Josh didn’t think opportunities like these were accessible to someone like him. He was so busy with school, work and family that he didn’t think he had time for traditional college. Josh said Amador College Connect made higher education realistic and attainable. “Amador College Connect has been a pivotal resource in making higher education realistic and achievable while balancing work and family responsibilities,” Josh said. “They made the process manageable and gave me the confidence to pursue this path.” Through the MHSA Program, Josh found a passion for working with youth and families in crisis in Amador County. His goal is to become a crisis counselor or youth advocate, so he can bridge the gap between community members and essential mental health services. “The best part of the MHSA Program is the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the community while earning an education,” Josh said. “The program also offers strong mentorship and networking opportunities that are invaluable in this field.” “Being able to study and serve locally strengthens my connection to the community and gives me purpose beyond just getting a degree,” Josh said. “Most importantly, remember why you started. The people you serve will benefit from your growth,” Josh said.
