Amador Community College Foundation Thanks the Community

November 20, 20222 min read

On October 1st the Amador Community College Foundation (ACCF) hosted a fundraiser at the Laughton Ranch in Jackson. The fundraiser was a success. It was a fun evening with a great meal, live music, square dancing and auctions used to raise funds to support the Amador College Connect (ACC). The ACC is a local nonprofit agency that provides online access and free support services for regional residents of all ages pursuing higher education and career development opportunities. This includes the provision of opportunities for students in high school choosing to enroll in college courses (dual enrollment students) where the college units they earn count towards both the credits needed for earning their high school diploma and as completed college units. The ACCF board would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for participating in this event and financially supporting ACCF and ACC. The ACCF board wants to send a special thank you to: Jim and Bobbi Laughton who donated the use of the Laughton Ranch for the event; Slade and Elky, those Windburn Brothers musical group, for their help with the event auctions and the wonderful music; Kip Garvey the caller with the Jackson Claim Jumpers Square Dance Club, and the Jackson Claim Jumpers Square Dance Club members for the square dance demonstration and participation in the square dancing. Also, the ACCF board would like to thank the following individuals who donated items for the general auction: Robert Tillery, Ashley Guillemin, Michele Lind, Meg Newell, Dominic Vicari, Zita Makkos, Bianca Burton, Zaffarano Family, Terra D Oro Winery, Ted Brown, Dickerson Family Trust and Starbucks Coffee in Martell; with a special thanks to Shauna Hansen of Shaunas Sweets who prepared and donated many of the desserts; Peggy LeClert who donated two pies for the dessert auction; the Dobra Zemlja Winery, Terra D Oro Winery; and Keith and Janice Davis for their wine and appetizers donations that were served prior to the dinner; and a thank you to the ACC students who volunteered to work at the event. It is with all your help that the Amador Community College Foundation can continue to fund the work of Amador College Connect to facilitate access to and support services for online college courses and career improvement certificates to individuals in our region.
