Expanding Higher Education Access
Amador College Connect (ACC) is a nonprofit hub that expands higher education access in rural California's Mother Lode by connecting students to accredited community college programs like Columbia College, especially benefiting five counties without a local community college district. ACC promotes dual enrollment for high schoolers, builds career pathways in early childhood education, computer science, and skilled trades (welding, electrical, construction) through partnerships like the Sierra K16 Collaborative and Sierra Jobs First, addressing workforce shortages and economic hardship. By offering virtual courses, local support, and regional industry collaborations, ACC reduces geographic isolation and helps first-generation students earn degrees and build sustainable futures, demonstrating how rural communities can reimagine workforce training and higher education.
