Kristen Maurice

Kristen Maurice is a student at Coastline Community College as a part of Amador Community College Foundation’s (ACCF) pilot. She is pursuing an Associate’s Degree with the guidance of ACCF’s caring members.

“College is a necessity for a successful, secure, and comfortable future, but getting there can be too difficult to manage and afford, obtaining guidance can be complicated, and gas is expensive. This is especially true for those from a small area like Amador County. Thankfully, ACCF is going to be providing a college presence right here in town; Coastline Community College offers degree programs entirely online, and ACCF has a learning center located at the Health & Human Services Building in Sutter Creek, where they will be helping students sign up, offering computers and tablets for students to utilize, and providing tutoring services.

Honestly, looking at today’s economy, the expense of commuting to different areas, and the vicious job market, my future looked pretty bleak. I was fortunate, however, in the happy chance of finding Amador Community College Foundation’s dedicated group of people who are working tirelessly to provide the Amador County area with a college presence. They introduced me to Coastline Community College, and I have begun my trek towards a successful future.”
