When the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort announced that they would be offering a scholarship for their employees to pursue college education related to their field of work, Ashton and Jesse Grosse were among the first to apply. Now, they are both in their last semester at Coastline Community College and about to each earn a Certificate of Achievement in Human Resource Management. Both were inspired to pursue college education because of the impact that it could have on their careers and their family. Ashton, who currently works in Human Resources at the Jackson Rancheria, was motivated to earn her certificate by her young daughter, who she hopes will see her accomplishments and be inspired to one day pursue college education. Jesse, who currently holds a management position at the Jackson Rancheria, was inspired to take classes that would give him the skills and knowledge to further his career in the right direction.
So far, Jesse says, his classes have helped him hugely at work; “my classes have given me a perspective I didn’t have previously. I had years of practical experience being a manager but learning the technical side of being a manager has given be a great perspective and benefitted me greatly.” Ashton has experienced a positive impact on her organizational skills and time management at work and enjoys the fact that what she learns in class is so applicable to her current position. Both Ashton and Jesse plan on pursing Associate Degrees once they have completed their certificates. Congratulations to both Jesse and Ashton, and we look forward to continuing to support them on their journey!
