Over the past two years the Amador Community College Foundation (ACCF) has been unable to have its annual Gala fundraiser due to the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now that the pandemic has calmed down some, we are happy to announce that the annual fundraiser is back. This year it is a Barn Dance and Dinner event scheduled for Saturday, October 1, from 5 to 10 PM at the Laughton Ranch located at 90 Clinton Road in Jackson (across Clinton Road from Raley’s grocery store).
ACCF through the Amador College Connect (ACC) provides students help applying for college admission and seeking career training. ACC assists new and continuing students with program planning, course selection and registration, review of available financial aid options and application for financial aid. Once enrolled in a course(s), ACC provides free student support services such as, help with textbook purchasing, finding free tutoring, use of the center’s computer lab, exam proctoring, finding student internships and application for scholarship assistance.
Over the two year period of the pandemic, ACC was able to maintain its three main collaborative relationships with: Columbia College and First 5 Amador to provide funding for early childhood education courses, certificates and associate degrees; Amador County Behavioral Health to facilitate offering students funding for Human Services MHSA certificates and degrees, and with Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort to provide support for a variety of programs including culinary and business certificates and degrees.
It is important for the community to know that ACC works with Amador and Calaveras school districts to support dual enrollment for high school students in college courses that count towards both high school requirements and college credits. These courses allow our regional high school students to get a head start in their college programs before graduating from high school. Also, ACC is working with Amador County Unified School District (ACUSD) to provide Continuing Education for students returning to school to complete a GED.
In summary, ACCF is having a Barn Dinner and Dance Fundraiser on Saturday October 1, 2022
from 5 to 10 PM to raise funds to support the educational opportunities ACC makes available
for students in the region. The dinner will be BBQ tri-tip and chicken (with all the fixings) along
with a no-host beer and wine bar. The event includes a dessert auction (with the desserts being
prepared by Shauna’s Sweets) and a live auction. Music will be provided by Slade and Elky with
a square dance demonstration and lesson provided by the Jackson Claim Jumpers Square Dance
Club; for those who want to give square dancing a try. For more information and tickets please
go to: www.amadorcollegeconnect.com or phone ACC at (209) 217-8239. The members of the
ACCF Board are looking forward to seeing you all at this relaxing and fun community event. The
Amador Community College Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
